The Gramercy is an exuberant Art Deco co-op, where Rawlins Design transformed a tired alcove studio into a welcoming pied-a-terre in which prewar architecture and modernist furniture comfortably co-exist. Heavy handed details were refined, and a graphic black and white palette integrates the windows into the space. The kitchen is punctuated with an upholstered banquette. Heavy-handed fireplace details are refined. Vintage Italian chairs provide ideal vantage points for viewing the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. A lightweight coffee table slides easily out of the way to accommodate the pull-out sofa.
